This second storey Bandra home's residents wished for a usable green space that could not only have color, but could be grown in the limited planter spaces available on their two terraces, one on the side of the building, and one in the back. Screening was also necessary due to the proximity to neighboring buildings.
SOLUTION:
For the side terrace, we came up with a plan to landscape with a mix of ornamental plants that also would provide flowers for interest and even fruiting trees along with the screening plants.
One corner was planted with a fragrant Plumeria tree, and the back corner, with banana trees. Potted plants add to the visual interest. We made sure we planted pet-friendly plants so that the pet dog wouldn't get in any trouble in case he munched on something.
For the back terrace, we constructed a metal frame that would hold our vertical garden systems. This vertical garden was planted with ornamental and edible plants that could handle the shade of the trellis that would be installed.
The entire system acts like screen, unless their name is Clark Kent, no one from the other buildings can see through this green wall.
